We are currently conducting due diligence on a potential site in the eastern suburbs. It is an exciting time and we hope to have an announcement by July 2018.
Community will be the essence of the new school. The child will be at the heart of it. In forming learning communities that engage home, school and society, we will reshape the traditional school model, to include:
a parent education and resource centre
an early childhood centre for children under 3
a 'children’s house' for 3-6 year olds
a learning and discovery centre for 6-12 year olds
an adolescent community for 12-15 year olds
a higher education centre for 15-18 year olds
Educator training and professional development will serve the needs
of the entire education community
The community centre will offer community outreach programs where service to the community becomes an outcome of learning and virtues for life.
What is the name of the school?
The name for the community campus has not been decided. The name will be announced on the day of opening. Until that day the project will be the Future Proof Project
Where will the school be?
We are currently in negotiations with several sites in the eastern suburbs, Sydney, and we are conducting due diligence on a potential site.
Will the school take children from outside of the Montessori system?
The school will be Montessori based in practice, principle and environment. Families outside of the current community may apply.
Who is designing the new school?
Once a location is secured the next step will be to go to tender for an architect and building company that will work in consultation with the existing ME community.
How green will the school be?
The green vision for the school will be clearly determined by the chosen location.
How many children will it take?
The new campus will be an extension of the existing campus in Bondi, Sydney. The aim is to add additional cycles to the pre and primary school, add the high school and to relocate the existing teacher training facility currently based in Bondi Junction.
How big will the high school be?
In order to maintain the integrity of a community feeling the high school will be small and grow as the community grows.
How much money do you need to start the school?
Depending on the site chosen we estimate this will be a $30 million project.
Who will fund it?
We are at the early stages of conversations with potential donors and investors. We hope this project will open the doors to more investor opportunities. For inquiries, please contact +61 (0)2 9130 8313
The Future-Proof Project community campus will be based on the well-established principles and practices of one of the most highly regarded education models on the planet developed by Dr Maria Montessori. Today it is being recognised as a model for the needs of the 21st Century.
Montessori is one of the most widely implemented educational approaches in the world with over 22,000 schools in 117 countries. The methods and principles are applied to both home and school settings as the focus remains consistently on the child’s natural development.
